We are the Body of Christ. This ancient metaphor gives us a great picture of what the church is intended to be. Each person has a unique combination of gifts and therefore has a unique contribution to make to the larger body. Each one of us is special – and the church needs to find ways to respect, value and cherish each member. When we work together, each person contributing the best of their God-given gifts, we truly ARE the Church, the body of Christ. Together we become the hands, the feet, the voice, the presence of God in the world.

 

This Advent cycle contains seven "workshops," using the rotation workshop model. Explore the themes preparing and sharing through art, computer drama, movie, story, ktichen and music workshops.

This includes two programs in one -- a full unit with one outline for each of the eight goals and a bonus set of five Sunday School lesson plans on the MDGs. This does not follow the traditonal rotation workshop mode but is easily incorporated into that curriculum style or it can be offered as a separate program.

 

In the stories of Samuel, David, Mary, Esther and others - we are reminded that God often has special tasks for young people - even children. In this cycle, we will study the story of Jeremiah, a prophet who was called as a child and told to bring God's messages to the kingdom of Judah.

Children discover creation stories and how we continue to care for the world God made for us--works well during Epiphany or during the Easter/spring season. Part of WorkshopCycles, a rotation workshop Sunday School curriculum for K-5th grade.

This cycle is about learning to listen and growing up. Activities include: a service unit and activities about responding to being called and learning about our names.

 

How Jesus changed our understanding of being blessed.

 

 A fun Spring cycle for playing outside while learning about the Good Shepherd who cares for all of us. Works well for Vacation Bible School as well as Sunday School.

 

The Life of Moses is the story for this cycle. Activities include: a children's Seder meal, creating clay commandments, and Dreamwork's Prince of Egypt movie. Great for VBS as well as Sunday School

 

Lent, Easter and the Resurrection; includes a children's stations of the cross.

 

Children learn about communion: what it means, why it is important and how the tradition was given to us. A great cycle for Lent.

 

We believe that children can learn about worship and benefit from being a part of community worship, well before they would ever be able to define or explain it. Our hope is that this cycle on worship will help children understand some of what happens in our church services and help them find more and more ways to connect with it, as their understanding of God and their relationship with God continues to grow.

 

Teach children about your church in a hands-on way. Activities include: a tour of special places in the church and interacting with parish leaders.
